DINNER &DANCE 23 October 2016
The Famagusta Association of Great Britain had its annual Dinner and Dance on Sunday 23 October 2016 at the Penridge banqueting Suite.
It was a very successful event. It was attended by 250+ members and friends of Famagusta Association of GB, including the following dignitaries:
The High Commissioner of Cyprus to the UK, Mr Evripides Evriviades.
The Leader of the Labor party and Her Majestys Opposition at the British Parliament, Mr Jeremy Corbyn.
Mrs Emily Thornbery MP Shadow foreign secretary.
The President of the POMAK the Global Federation of Cypriots, Mr Andreas Papaevripides, who is also the president DYSI GB
The President of the Federation of Cypriots UK, Mr Christos Karaolis.
The President of AKEL GB represented today by George Michaelides
The President of DIKO uk Mr Michalis Ellinas
The Deputy President of EDEK uk Mr George Kouttoukis
The Coordinator of Lobby for Cyprus Mr Theo Theodorou.
Representatives of local Cypriot community associations.
The President of the Cyprus Parliament, Mr Dimitris Syllouris, and the Cyprus Government spokesman, Mr Nikos Christodoulides, were planning to be attend, but they had to change their plans due to unforeseen circumstances. So , they sent their respective Greetings.
Both of them, in different words, they express their appreciation to the work the Famagusta Association of GB is doing in order to keep the flame for the Return of Famagusta alive. The lobbying that is done by Cypriots in Diaspora is essential for the gathering of International political support for a just solution of the Cyprus issue.
We a had a great entertainment program with distinguished musicians taking part including the Legendary musician of Famagusta Mr Stelios Hiotis. Stelio you are welcomed. Our thanks to the ELYSEE Restorant for arranging for Stelios to come over from Cyprus for he weekend. Also, we had the famous Cyprus based musician Fani. Our own local singer Evdokia, also the bouzouki maestro Andreas Shiakolas and his orchestra.
