Oper Letter to President Obama

Open letter

His Excellency,

Mr. Barack Obama,

President of the United States of America,

White House

Washington, USA. London 20 May, 2011

Mr. President,

Turkey should withdraw from occupied Cyprus too

I refer to your speech in which you called for Israel to withdraw to its pre-1967 borders in any peace agreement.

Well, Mr. President, let you be the first American President to look straight at Turkey too, right in the eye, and tell her the truth to her face: that she also has to withdraw from the Republic of Cyprus back to its 1974 borders. That Turkey also has to withdraw from the part of Cyprus that she has under occupation since her barbaric and bloody invasion of July and August 1974.

Tell her that there will be no peace agreement and solution to the problem of Cyprus unless Turkey withdraws from the occupied territory of the Republic of Cyprus and takes back to Turkey her 40,000 strong military presence and arms taking with them also the so called “settlers”. All of the purposely imported Turkish Anatolian population of hundreds of thousands. An action that constitutes a war crime. Those imported people have taken over our stolen land and properties. They were intentionally imported in order to change the demographic structure of the Republic of Cyprus, a war crime. As a result of that bloody invasion 200,000 Greek Cypriots were forcibly uprooted by the Turkish invading army and to this day are not allowed to return to their land and properties.

Yours sincerely,
